Course Code: Biology, Grade 11, University Preparation (SBI3U)
Prerequisite: Science, Grade 10, Academic (SNC2D)

Schedule: 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday (no classes July 2)
This course furthers students’ understanding of the processes that occur in biological systems. Students will study theory and conduct investigations in the areas of biodiversity; evolution; genetic processes; the structure and function of animals; and the anatomy, growth, and function of plants. The course focuses on the theoretical aspects of the topics under study, and helps students refine skills related to scientific investigation.
*Maire Duffy is a highly experienced science teacher who earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from McGill University, graduating with Distinction in 2000. She also holds a B.Ed. from the University of British Columbia and an M. Ed from the University of Ottawa. An IB trained science and math teacher, Maire has taught at a number of schools both abroad and in Canada, most recently at Copenhagen International School in Denmark. She is currently one of our Elmwood Edge Tutors.
