What do theme parks, failure and creativity have in common? Global video game design! This exciting, interactive course teaches students to code video games, create animations and remix what others have done, in collaboration with a global partner student at a school in another part of the world. They will use the engineering design process as they collaborate with their global partner and their classmates to solve a design challenge. Students use a programming language called “Scratch” (created by MIT) to learn a variety of coding and programming skills, culminating in a co-designed video game: a global theme park game that incorporates elements of each culture!
Andrew McDonald is an experienced science and technology instructor and an Elmwood Edge tutor, who has taught at international schools in the Middle East. He has also served as a judge for the World Robotics Olympiad in Qatar (2015).
