Have you ever wondered what archaeologists do, and how they can understand ancient people from the clues they leave behind? Under the expert guidance of Elmwood’s Latin teacher, Beth Ellison, this camp offers students a unique opportunity to explore Classical (Greek and Roman) archaeology from a practical perspective. They will learn about real archaeological techniques and tools, analyze finds, and complete a practical dig to discover artefacts and to try to understand what they might tell us today about the fascinating Ancient World. Participants will visit a museum to examine artefacts on display, and learn first hand from archaeologists about real excavations happening in Classical sites today. Bring your sun hats and be ready to dig in the dirt—we could find wonderful things!
